Wombats are Welcome.
How can we make sure Southern Hairy-nosed Wombats are welcome in our world?
Establish and look after wildlife sanctuaries, like Moorunde Wildlife Reserve and Brookfield Conservation Park, in order to protect wombat populations and habitats. Wombats are safer in sanctuaries and their habitats are preserved by volunteers and grants to maintain these valuable places.
Moorunde is part of a wider, protected wildlife corridor in the Lower Murraylands including Yookamurra, Brookfield Conservation Park, Blanchetown Bushland Estate (NFSA / BushbankSA) as well as many Heritage Listed properties in the area.
Wombat Awareness is a non-profit organisation specialising in the rescue, rehabilitation and advocation of the Southern Hairy-nosed Wombat. They aim to develop strategies to keep the wild population healthy, safe and free. Wombat Awareness are the only free range, cage free wombat sanctuary.
